How we prune
No spurs in a tree we're keeping.
Climbing spurs punch holes through living bark, so Live Oak's climbers only strap them on for a removal. A tree that stays gets climbed on rope and cut to the ANSI A300 pruning standard: crown reduction, elevation and balancing, dead and diseased wood out from three-quarters of an inch up, and young trees shaped early so they never need the heavy cuts later.
